Bavarian Torte

  • ½ cup butter

  • 1/3 cup sugar

  • ½ tsp amaretto liqueur

  • 1 cup flour

  • 8 oz cream cheese

  • ¼ cup sugar

  • 2 med eggs

  • 1 tsp Amaretto liqueur

  • 4 cups peeled sliced apples

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • ¼ cup sliced almonds

  • icing sugar

Place the first four ingredients in bowl and work with hands until mixture comes together
Press on bottom and up the sides of a 9" spring-form pan
Place cream cheese, sugar, Amaretto and eggs in a bowl and beat well
Pour into pastry lined pan
Mix apples, sugar, cinnamon and scatter over cheese mixture
Sprinkle with almonds
Bake at 450F for 10 minutes, then lower to 375 for another 25 minutes
Cool, remove from pan and sprinkle with icing sugar
