Scones

  • 2½ cups sifted flour

  • ½ cup white sugar

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 tsp each cream of tartar and baking soda

  • ½ cup lard

  • 1 cup sour cream

Preheat oven to 425F
Combine ingredients with enough warm water to make dough
Pat dough into ¾ inch thick layer and cut into diamond shapes
Glaze with beaten egg and bake until golden brown
Raisins (½ cup) can be added before cutting if desired
